A 57-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman were found dead inside a Queens home on Saturday afternoon, with one of them suffering a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Their neighbors reported that they did not hear any gunshots during the incident.
One 40-year-old resident named Sam Ilyayev, expressed shock over the event, noting that the man had lived in the neighborhood for about 15 years and was known as a “nice guy.”
“We didn’t really discuss personal matters much. From what I know, he enjoyed fishing, had a girlfriend, and used to work as a roofer. I think he was retired, but we never talked about that in detail. He just seemed like a happy person. I often walked around the neighborhood, and if he saw me, he’d stop for a quick chat almost every day” Sam said.
His wife, Natasha Ilyayev, 38, mentioned she heard that the man was living with his mother, but she hadn’t noticed an elderly woman coming or going from the house.
